We Built This Because We Needed It
Back in March 2021, Henrik was drowning in project files. Spreadsheets everywhere, documents scattered across three different cloud services, and that one critical file that nobody could find when the client asked for it.
Sound familiar? That frustration led to a conversation with Declan, who'd been dealing with similar chaos on his end. We figured if two reasonably organized professionals were struggling this much, others probably were too.
So we started building what became Business Manager Hub. Not as some grand vision — just as a practical tool to solve a real problem we were living with every day.
How We Got Here
It wasn't a straight path. We made plenty of mistakes, learned from actual users, and rebuilt things that didn't work. Here's the honest version of that journey.
Early Days (2021-2022)
Started with a basic file organization system that honestly wasn't much better than a shared drive. But we kept talking to people who tried it — contractors, small agencies, project managers who were equally frustrated.
The feedback was brutal sometimes. Good thing we asked for it. Every complaint helped us understand what actually mattered versus what we thought was clever.
The Rebuild (2023)
By late 2023, we'd learned enough to know our first version missed the mark in several ways. So we essentially started over, keeping only the parts that people actually used.
This version focused on search functionality and quick retrieval — because that's what everyone kept asking for. Turns out organizing files is only useful if you can find them again later.
Current Focus (2024-2025)
Spent most of 2024 improving integration capabilities based on requests from clients who needed to connect with their existing tools. We're not trying to replace everything — just make the documentation piece work better with what you already use.
And we're still learning. Every client setup teaches us something new about how project documentation actually works in practice versus how we imagined it would.
Looking Ahead (2026)
We're planning some enhancements for early 2026 around team collaboration features. Nothing revolutionary — just making it easier for multiple people to work with the same documentation without stepping on each other's toes.
If you have thoughts on what would actually be useful, we're genuinely interested. We've gotten this far by listening more than talking.
Who's Behind This
We're a small team, which has its advantages. Decisions don't get lost in committee meetings, and when you contact us, you're talking to people who actually work on the product. Henrik handles the strategic side and client relationships, while Declan focuses on the technical architecture and system design. We bring in specialists when needed, but it's mostly just us.
Henrik Lindstrom
Spent fifteen years managing projects before admitting that documentation was always the weak point. Now focuses on making that part less painful for everyone else. Outside of work, you'll find him hiking or complaining about hiking weather.
Declan O'Rourke
Built systems for companies ranging from startups to mid-sized firms. Believes that good architecture should be invisible — you only notice it when it's not there. Has strong opinions about database structure that he's learned to keep to himself at parties.
Practical Over Perfect
We'd rather ship something useful that solves 80% of the problem than wait forever perfecting features nobody asked for. Real improvement comes from actual use, not theoretical planning.
Transparent Communication
When something breaks, we tell you. When we don't know something, we say so. When timelines slip, you hear it from us first. Seems basic, but apparently it's not that common.
User-Driven Development
Most of our best features came from client suggestions or complaints. We track what people actually use versus what they ignore. That data shapes our priorities more than our own preferences do.
If you're dealing with project documentation chaos and think we might be able to help, reach out. We're based in Branford, Connecticut, but work with clients across the country. You can call us at +1 (918) 279-1018 or email contact@businessmanagerhub.com — either way, you'll get a real response from someone who knows the product.
